Description

By the late 2000's, horror remakes (not a new phenomenon but not common) were becoming insanely popular with titles like Halloween, The Fog, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Prom Night all receiving new life in cinemas between 2005 and 2010. However hardly anyone thought that a forgotten Charles B. Peirce 1976 slasher would ever warrant such attention but that is what Blumhouse (in one of their first major projects) did in 2014 with their pseudo remake/sequel The Town that Dreaded Sundown (confusing right?)

Young woman Jami finds herself caught up in the dark history of Texarkana when someone dressed as the infamous "Phantom Killer" begins killing couples across the city. Goaded to "make them remember" after being attacked herself, she begins a personal investigation into the history of the town, the 1946 Moonlight Murders and the Phantom to uncover who is killing and cosplaying after hours. Did this remake do the original justice? Can Jami uncover the unknown secrets of the Phantom? Why the hell did this town treat her so horribly after her attack? Join Cordell and Lucas as we head back to Texarkana: the town that dreads sundown.

Music is "The Town that Dreaded Sundown" by The Bloody Hammers.
