Description

On this episode of come pray with me I interview Danielle Sato. She will be teaching us about the history and significance of Wakamiya Inari Shrine in Waipahu Hawaii. The shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami Inari. Throughout its history spanning over a hundred years, it has played many roles in the Shinto and Japanese American community.
You can visit the shrine at the Waipahu Cultural Garden in Waipahu Hawaii. I found the historic Hawaii Foundation and Asian Reflections on the American Landscape: Identifying and Interpreting Asian Heritage by the national park service, helpful when doing research for this episode. The song played at the beginning and end is a kagura dance at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, Japan. https://youtu.be/CQqp1YOC9wY
