Leip's calculations for the Atlas revealed Vigo County's status as the nation's bellwether county for presidential elections. A majority of Vigo County voters have voted for the eventual winning candidate in every election since 1888, except for 1908 (WJ Bryan instead of Taft) and 1952 (Adlai Stevenson instead of Eisenhower.)
