Welcome to Into The Mirror. Season 3. Episode 1.

Today we talk about one of the eleven life changing topics we have found on our awakening journey. This journey is always in progress but this is what we know now. We will be developing our podcast more and more in this season. Brodys shares his knowledge on neuroplasticity.

Summary and Notes:

The knowledge and application of the principles neuroplasticity fundamentally changed my life.

Six years ago brain surgeons removed a cavernous malformation in my brain and was the size of a cranberry. The malformation, which is essentially a benign brain tumor was leaking blood into the rest of my brain and causing me to have grand mal seizure. What seemed like a gut punch after the surgery was I continued to have seizures and I lost faith in medications and most of what doctors were telling me then.

After a few years of deep discovery I stumbled upon the science of "neuroplasticity".

The application of what I learned gave me hope and ultimately helped me make a full recovery.

Today I am honored and humbled to be able to present to you all the 5 fundamentally sound foundations of neuroplasticity you can use to change your life.

Neuroplasticity also known as neural plasticity or brain plasticity is a process that involves adaptive structural and functional changes to the brain. It is defined as the ability of the nervous system to change its activity in response to intrinsic or extrinsic stimuli by reorganizing its structure, function, and connections. I like to think of neuroplasticity like neuro-bio elasticity at a fundamental level every single cell in our body has the ability to heal adapt and improve on a moment-to-moment basis.

Thus they are elastic in the way that they can expand and contract or in better words we grow until we die.

Arguably, our two most important organs, our brain, and our heart, are elastic. They are constantly pulsing, expanding, and contracting.

When we are fostering the healing our biology, three basic principles apply.

  1. Nutrition and nutrients. ---What we put into our body is ultimately what get out of it.

This includes, water, food, vitamins, drugs, and getting the correct amount of proteins, carbs, amino acids, and enzymes.

  1. Movement/Exercise—As our body moves, our brain groves. Movement and exercise strengthens our mind body connection at deep level.
  2. New learnings--- We need to continually stimulate our mind to strengthen it. Use it or lose it. The brain literally atrophies when we do not use it.
  3. Meditation/Non-sleep deep rest--- The ability to give our mind rest, helps balance our emotions and create brain and heart coherence.
  4. The 4 S’s…. Sleep, sunlight, socialization, and sex-- Getting enough of these 4 things will help balance our hormones, neurotransmitters, and neuropeptides.

Remember that a tired and isolated mind(and heart) is an unhealthy mind(and heart).

Neurons are information messengers. They use electrical impulses and chemical signals to transmit information between different areas of the brain and between the brain and the rest of the nervous system. Scientists think that neurons are the most diverse kind of cell in the body. How these neurons communicate with each other by making connections is what makes each of us unique in how we think, feel, and act.

There is a character limit for the description so we will have to improve the next episode. Message our group on instagram through @alexanderdavisjones or @neuraltransformations
