In episode 30 of the Platform to Perform Podcast I spoke with Head of Sports Science at Bolton Arena, and Royal Marines Commmando, Howard Green. Howard’s journey from the Royal Marines, to being in the box at Wimbledon during his time working with the likes of Naomi Broady and Ana Ivanovic carries with it some fascinating life lessons about work ethic, humility and self-reflection as we discussed:
· Holding his athletes accountable to high expectations whilst being cognisant of not wearing his green beret for every single person he works with
· His model for co-ordination training, and eliminating the ‘fuzziness’ of a monkey see monkey do approach towards co-ordination activities
· Bringing tennis and S&C coaches onto the same page with his supermovers program
