Description

I was born in a little village called, Lynton, North Devon. Many fat9 Bill, was 75 when he died. My mother, Joan, died in 1988. She used to work in in little cafe called the Greenhouse Cafe. Dad worked cutting down trees, using what was called I went to Coomber Martin School and then went to Secondary Modern School. I left school when I was 15. I then went to work in a bakery where mum worked. I did all the washing up. I stayed in this job for the next two years. I then went to London to work on the trains. I had a uncle who drove steam trains from Victoria to Dover Marine. The train was called the Golden Arrow. I began my new job by clearing the engines and putting thick oil onto the side and front of the train. I was later promoted to the post of fireman, stoking the engine. I was on the Victoria to Tunbridge line remained in this job for 8 years.. I then became a train driver but, sadly, driving electric trains. I married Jeanette in New Malden in 1968. She worked as a cashier for Tesco. My wife died a while ago. I now live with my son, Martin. I have two grandsons who are both in th their early twenties.
