One of my most popular questions, I get is “Am I qualified for the position?” Or "Should I apply?" I hear the statement, “I don’t think I’ll meet the qualifications.” When I look at their resume and consider their experience, in most cases they do. They have to BELIEVE that they are qualified.
Many women deal with imposter syndrome and lack of confidence to apply for certain positions. I think this boils down to feeling invaluable.
This is the belief that their experiences, perspectives and credentials are not enough. Part of this is due to gender stereotypes that we as women internalized. So in this week’s episode, I’m going to talk about the things, emotions, and social constructs that get in the way of you applying for a job that you want. I will also share some advice that will encourage you to apply.
