Description

Today's episode Shakira and Mary discuss "Toxic Relationships" from friendships, romantic relationships, and coworkers.  We delve into why we stay in relationships that are toxic but how you can learn to give them an expiration date if needed.

We talk about self-reflection and how to decipher which relationships are toxic.  Often toxic relationships can become acceptable to us because of comfort.  This is when you have a relationship that you had for many years and you know that person is toxic, but you keep them around because your familiar with that person.  Is this person what we may hypothetically know for as:

The Negative Nancy- Cannot count on her for advice to motivate or look to for inspiration.  She lacks positivity and will always add her negative 2 cents.

The Critical Cathy- Often women who feel that they know best in most situations.  They will typically criticize without hesitation.

Not to limit to just women, because there are men that we've come across in our lives that can fall in one of those categories as well.

We discuss ways of being intentional about our relationships. What purpose does this person or relationship have in my life?  Do I add value or do they add value to my life?   Do you constantly pour into a person or relationship and get little to no return.

By the end of this episode, we hope you can identify how to not to get stuck in a toxic relationship.
