Description

It has been said when there is a gold rush, two classes of people emerge: those selling gold and those selling shovels.

The Information Age has presented an unprecedented amount of data - the new gold - for corporations to create new avenues for profits. In the vein of this proverbial new Gold Rush and finding ways to seize it, we sit and discuss how Africans, in particular the Diaspora can spur on the sharing shovels over gold.

There is room to create pathways to success in Africa using the Diaspora as a launching pad, where the refined use of information using technology is our greatest asset. However, If data is the new gold, who is doing the mining? And who is doing the refining? The pillars to this Renaissance speak to: Platforms, Partnerships and better uses of Power to remove hinderances to our own growth and open the door for self-directed efforts.

A sneak peek into topics this episode:

Partnership dynamics in the African community and across the African landscape - bridging the divide across sectors and within society, removing biases and ego, and building solid foundations.

Leadership - heroics or a handicap?

Bringing value back home - the dynamics of local government and local people

Questioning the status quo of development - present day handouts versus future self-reliance

Finding unity and ushering an African Silk Road - cause for replication and ushering an African-led Renaissance

Pooling resources susu style - spreading the wealth to build wealth

and much more...
