Description

This week, I’m talking with Jim Liston, the Director of Sport Science for Toronto FC. Jim was the first full time strength and conditioning coach hired in Major League Soccer for the LA Galaxy. He is also the founder and president of CATZ (Competitive Athlete Training Zone), one of the top training centers in the United States for professional and Olympic athletes.

Jim helped launch the Sport Science Department of Toronto FC. He is an innovator committed to helping athletes reach their highest potential. We talk about how Jim collects and analyzes data on athletes, as well as the importance of putting the numbers into context and communicating them to the medical staff and players. He talks about managing player loads, the schedule leading up to games, and the importance of the “off-field stuff” in a player’s career. Finally, we talk about how Jim stays positive through the ups and downs of life and his role in a performance based business.

While Jim works with professional athletes, there is a ton of information in this episode that the everyday athlete can take away and apply to their life and training!
