The Books of Samuel (1 & 2) -- Episode #74
Samuel is the last of the Judges and serves as a transition and a KING MAKER! Samuel is responsible for 'anointing' the first 2 Kings of a 'united states' of Israel. The first King is SAUL. We read about him in 1 Samuel. The second King is DAVID. We read about his rise to fame and his interactions with King Saul in the first book... then we read about KING DAVID'S 40 year rule as King of Israel in 2 Samuel. God's desire was NEVER for Israel to have a King. But Israel's rebellious heart and a desire to 'be like everyone else' brought them to this transition.
