Topic - OTM OTM.  OTM, OTM…On the mind, out the mouth.  You know those folks who have a need to share everything they’re thinking.

For adults, it may be a sign of anxiety or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.  For kids, it’s also a sign of ADHD or being verbally gifted.

It’s very annoying and exhausting to listen to their endless stream of ideas and opinions.  There’s very little “back-and-forth”.

They’re “pressured” to keep talking and  seem completely uninterested in anything you have to say.  These kids and adults often suffer socially as others avoid them.

Some people talk aloud as they work through problems or even read. Oftentimes, they’re unaware of this need to “concretize” their thinking and once prompted, they’re able to keep silent while they work.

Those who suffer from “on the mind, out the mouth” are simply unable to control it.  An evaluation will help determine the source of their difficulties. Interventions are necessary for healthy social relationships.
