Topic - Boys Have More Problems Than Girls. Why are 4 times as many boys as girls diagnosed with autism and 2-3 times more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD?
The real answer is that males develop differently in the womb than girls.
Think of brain development as a straight line. While females’ brains move along this straight line without interruption, boys have a lot of zig-zags.
At about 6 weeks after conception, boys’ brains are flooded with male hormones that cause the zig-zags. If the brain “overshoots a street”, there’s no making a U turn.
The brain continues on a course that leads to ADHD, dyslexia, language processing disorders and learning disabilities.
Boys are frequently larger at birth and more difficult to deliver.
