Topic - Sleep Debt. Ever hear yourself saying that you’re going to catch up on your sleep this weekend?
You can catch up on your sleep debt.
A large sleep debt can cause dangerous levels of mental and physical fatigue. There are two types: partial and total sleep deprivation.
Partial deprivation occurs when you get too little sleep for days or weeks and total deprivation happens when you stay awake for days.
The invention of the light bulb caused an immediate national sleep debt!
Six nights of sleep deprivation can be offset by three nights of catch-up sleep. Unless you sleep regularly, you’ll be bouncing from one unhealthy state to another.
If you missed 10 hours of sleep last week, add 4 hours to the weekend and 2 extra hours nightly the following week until you’ve repaid the debt.
If you have a large debt, schedule a vacation with few obligations. Turn off the alarm and sleep until you naturally wake up.
Change your ways to avoid sleep debt.
