Topic - Fake It Till You Make It.  I’ve met up with some of my clients at their AA meetings to be supportive and to learn.  

I found the phrase that I learned there, “fake it till you make it” has stuck with me for years.  If you think you’ll succeed, you’ll act as if you are already successful.  

Research shows if a person behaves in a successful way, they start believing they have that skill.  It’s a less threatening version of “practice”.  

I don’t know too many people who like the idea of practice because there’s little obvious reward.  If you “act” the part, you’ll become the “role” which is more interesting than practicing.  

Kids take to the idea quickly.  When I explain the process to them, they’re all in.  

Usually, the behavior focuses on social interactions.  If they imitate the behavior of someone who is confident, they behave confidently, others label them as confident and ta-da!, they begin to describe themselves as confident.
