Topic - LED's and Sleep. Computer monitors, reading lights and other LED screens contribute to sleep problems.
If you use devices with light emitting diode screens just before bed, you’re in for trouble. We now know that the action of LED screens make it hard to fall asleep and wake up feeling alert and ready to go.
LEDs are so powerful that they disrupt circadian rhythm which is the primitive and naturally-occurring clock that regulates your daily life.
The problem is not with the stimulation of reading or working on a computer. The same issues are not seen when people read printed books.
Light is critically important to the sleep-wake cycle. When early morning light shines through your eyelid, it hits the pineal gland and says, “Rise and shine!”
Introducing an unnatural light source, especially LEDs, upsets the way the vision-sleep system works and may make you drowsy and irritable the following day.
So, pick up a good ol’ fashioned paper book and read before bed!
