Topic - Headphone Volume.  Half of young people, 12 to 35, turn their headphones up too high.

If you can’t hear conversation around you, the music is too loud.

So how do you convince Steve the music is too loud?

Telling him the science behind destroying the thousands of tiny hair cells that change vibrations to electrical signals isn’t going to work.

But the truth is, loud sounds result in noise-induced hearing loss.  This occurs when ears are exposed to eighty-five decibels for “long periods of time”.

This is equivalent to city traffic heard inside a car.

Steve will tell you, “You don’t understand.  I like it loud.”

He has to experience it, so let him.

Go to HeartheWorld.com and go through the hearing loss exercise.  It’s shocking.

Search 10 famous musicians with hearing damage and learn their stories.

Have Steve’s hearing evaluated by an audiologist to get baselines.  Let the audiologist tell him the science.  It’s all you can do.
