Topic - Skydiving.
We see those people flying around in their wingsuits. We see them skydiving and surfing on monster waves.
Why?
What in the world is going on in their brains that says to them, “Wow, let’s do this. So fun!”
It’s the thrill-seeking dynamics of their brain. They interpret danger in ways that activate their reward systems.
Yes, the thrill of danger equals reward. This dynamic is counterintuitive.
Typically, dopamine dumps in response to threat and allows you to fight, flee or freeze but, in some people, threat is seen as a reward.
Many of us like a slight fright, but it’s usually in very controlled circumstances that reduce the actual chance of fear.
If you’re not wired for this kind of high-flying reward, don’t be ashamed. Blame it on your brain!
