Topic - Teen Mood Swings.

If your teenager is cranky and sometimes aggressive, things will change.

During adolescence, moods become more stable for both boys and girls.  Girls, however, had more variation in happiness and sadness than boys.

Both groups had a similar rate of change over the teen years.

This stability in mood is due to many factors such as maturation of the brain, development of coping skills, and increased tolerance for frustration.

The decision making area of the brain is still immature, but its growth increases responsible behavior resulting in positive feedback from others.

An appreciation of their rapidly-approaching future is certain to play a role.

When kids, 13 to 16 years of age, made notes about their moods for over a period of 5 years, this pattern of growth and stability was found.

You have only 5 years to wait for relief!
