Itch is a maddening sensation. People would rather suffer with pain than the misery of an itch.
When itch can’t be treated successfully, it may respond to pain medication. Why?
Because an itch occurs on the top of the skin, but pain happens deeper in the skin.
Not all itches respond to antihistamines. If your kid develops a rash and it’s not responding to an antihistamine-based lotion, jump on it fast.
Rashes spread quickly, across the skin and down into the skin. It’s easy to lose control.
Don’t dismiss the misery of your child’s rash. The itching interferes with concentration, sleep, causes irritability and anxiety.
All they want to know is “when is it going to stop”?
