Ewwww! This is so interesting and kinda creepy.
Scientists can gauge a movie’s emotional pitch from the gasps coming from the audience. How does that happen?
How do they know the difference between screeches of terror or surprise?
While the screams are a clue, there are chemicals exhaled with each gasp and these chemicals just might be a subtle form of human communication. There’s an invisible concert going on.
You hear the music, the howls and screeches and see the pictures, but you don’t realize there are chemical signals in the air that enhance the experience.
Maybe other people’s breath increases your emotions when you’re in a movie theater. See what I mean? Ewwww. Creepy!
