This isn’t pleasant, but it’s reality. Universities lie about the number of sexual assaults on their campuses.
A recent study reviewed 31 major universities and found when they were under the scrutiny of a federal audit, and had to be honest about the amount of sexual assaults that occur on campus, the number increased by 44% over the “pre-audit” numbers.
Once the auditors left, the numbers magically fell again. This behavior is both unethical and unsafe.
Parents, take matters into your own hands. The year before your daughter goes off to college, start the safety education process.
Review it over and over again so that her brain is trained to recognize situations.
Investigate the school she will be attending. What are their safety practices? What’s their track record?
Control the controllable and be prepared.
