Topic - Complaining Rewires Your Brain
Complaining causes depression and anxiety. Why?
Because the more you complain, the more you wire your brain to complain even more. Here’s the story.
When you do something, brain cells fire in a certain sequence. If you’re doing something for the first time, that sequence is weak.
So, the more you do something, the sequence gets stronger and stronger and begins to fire off automatically. If you complain a lot, you’re gonna complain more because practice makes perfect.
What follows is a focus on the bad things in life and an overall negative outlook which makes it easier to become anxious, hopeless and depressed.
Want to stop this? Observe yourself.
Notice how much you actually complain. Stop yourself before or even in the middle of a complaint and think about one thing that’s positive.
Train yourself to be more pleasant to be around.
