Topic - Treating Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

One of the most challenging conversations I had with parents in the twenty-three years I ran a private practice was when I made a diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and it came time to discuss treatment. I reviewed the importance of diet, Omega 3 supplements, exercise and treatment options including low energy neurofeedback and medical management. Some parents rejected the idea of medication right away. I understand why they’re worried which is why I sent them to a specialist. I referred my clients to a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. These professionals are the most well-informed and experienced practitioners to get the treatment regimen right sooner rather than later. I didn’t want my clients to go through multiple medication trials. I wanted them to get the best and the most effective treatment as soon as possible so they could enjoy success.
