Topic - 4 Questions To Ask Your Child Everyday
As parents, we interrogate our kids daily. It leaves little room for having real conversations with them. Let Susie and Sam know that you’ll be asking for five minutes of their undivided attention every day to have a “chat”. Let them decide when it will happen. Be flexible, but always keep your agreement. Keep the time limit. Use a stop watch or a sand clock so your child can get a feel for the amount of time you’re spending. From middle school on, they start to put up boundaries, so make it easy for them. Consider these four questions. “What was the best part of your day?” “Who helped you or who did you help?” You could also ask, “Who was nice to you?” “Anything happen to disappoint, frustrate, make you mad, you thought was unfair or unexpected?” and finally, “What can you do to make it better tomorrow?” Once they know what to expect, they’ll start paying attention to the events in their day so they’ll have answers.
