Topic - Child Suicide Cases Increasing
American young people and children are more depressed, anxious and suicidal than ever. As a result, there’s been a dramatic increase in hospitalizations for suicidal thinking. Thirty-two children’s hospitals across the US reported that their cases with children between five and seventeen have more than doubled between two thousand eight and two thousand fifteen. More than one hundred eighteen thousand kids were hospitalized most of which were the older teenagers. The fewest incidences happened in the summer while most happened in the spring and fall. The one obvious variable here is that “something” is going on related to school that isn’t being explored. Do these kids have learning disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, being bullied, laboring under intense pressure from parents? Until we know the source of the stress, this trend is going to continue.
