Topic - Fine Line Between Madness And Genius

There’s a fine line between madness and genius, but it’s not madness at all. Throughout history, we’ve seen truly brilliant and creative people with volatile temperaments, mood swings and destructive binges.  Van Gogh, Beethoven, Virginia Woolf and Silvia Plath are only a few of the talented tortured.  These souls lived before modern psychiatry could help them or perhaps destroy their gifts.  From the behavior seen in many creative geniuses, they’re likely suffering from bipolar disorder. They manifest their gifts during manic periods and have destructive binges during the depressive phase.  Mania symptoms at about age twenty-two were seen in the same children who measured with very high IQs at age eight.  Intelligence, mood disorders and genius.  Is there a flip side to these gifts?
