Topic - Genetic Disorders.  I see children and teens with pervasive and severe disorders related to memory, attention, executive functioning and language skills.

When they act young for their age and have difficulty coping with the demands of their lives, I request genetic testing.

Why?  Because when so many systems are compromised and disable a child, it’s likely that when the sperm hit the egg, the process took a wrong turn and the brain was wired differently.

Males are more vulnerable than females because their developmental path in the womb is different.  Gender is determined at conception and girls simply proceed on course until birth.

Boys develop as female for the first 6 weeks after which they are bathed in male hormones to make the male brain. There are many twists to making a male brain and there are no “U-turns”.

You can’t fix it, but knowing what to expect allows you a chance to reduce the impact of the disorder on their lives.
