Topic - Eating peanuts while nursing can protect babies from peanut allergy

Peanut allergies cripple the lives of some people with potentially fatal reactions.  Recently, it’s been learned that if new mothers ate peanuts while breast feeding, they might protect their children from developing the allergy.  This is the latest evidence to suggest that young kids should be exposed to nuts early in life in order to reduce their risk. When peanuts are introduced before baby is a year old, there is less of a chance they’ll have a serious reaction, by the time they are of school age. The efforts currently being taken include mothers eating nuts while they’re pregnant, having young children eat finger foods containing small amounts of peanuts and having a child wear a peanut patch to decrease their sensitivity to the nut.  This process is very much like an immunization. It makes sense to expose kids to small bits in order to train their bodies not to react aggressively. A better life for everyone!
