Description

Topic - Conflict Driven Behavior.  Tony seems to pick a fight with his parents before homework and then, he seems to calm down and get it done.

What they don’t realize is they’re giving him a shot of adrenalin so his brain, laboring under the strain of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, can actually get turned on to do the work.

His confused parents don’t know it, but they’re in a cycle of conflict-driven behavior.  Tony is provoking them to get the “fix” he needs to get the job done.

Conflict causes adrenalin to flood his brain and turn it on.  Teenagers, even those without ADHD, seek the addictive adrenalin rush and unfortunately, struggle to turn it off once they’ve practiced it often.

They end up unintentionally provoking teachers and cops and the next thing you know, they’ve got a court date.

If you see this cycle in your family, seek help immediately.  It is as dangerous as it feels.
