Topic - There are two types of schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a particularly scary and debilitating mental illness.  Hallucinations, irrational thoughts and losing touch with reality are signs of this condition.  Typically, those with the disorder have fewer brain cells which results in distorted thinking. A second type of schizophrenia has been discovered.  In this type, there’s more matter in the region where movement is controlled. The schizophrenic brain has a much different floor plan than brains without the condition.  These differences may explain why a small number of patients respond either really well or hardly at all to antipsychotic medications and why most patients respond pretty well to them.  More research is underway to explain this new subtype of schizophrenia with the hopes of developing more effective medications.
