Topic - False memories and pot smoking

Picture this.  You’ve taken one hit of pot and you see a fight break out.  Your friend adds a detail to the event that you didn’t see.  When police question you, you add that detail without realizing you didn’t see it.  What just happened?  Smoking pot causes you to have false memories.  Oh sure, you’ll swear you saw what he saw until you sober up.  The danger in all of this is just that.  If you’re questioned about any legal, family or work situation, and you’ve had just one hit of pot, you’re not going to tell the truth, only your distorted version.  We’re all prone to having false memories, but when you’re smoking pot, you can be influenced by others, called the “misinformation effect”.  Cannabis activates the cells of the brain’s memory centers and produces fragmented thoughts, derails your thinking and causes greater distractibility.  Just another way that smoking pot can put you at risk.
