Marijuana is legal, but not safe

Many states have passed laws that make using marijuana less of a crime.  Unfortunately, a great many people “read” this decriminalization to mean that smoking pot is safe.  It isn’t.  Drivers involved in fatal accidents who have pot THC in their blood have increased more than 60%.  Women who smoked pot during pregnancy had babies with low birth weight resulting in attentional problems and learning disorders.  In both teens and adults, smoking pot decreased school and job performance mostly due to memory loss.  Serious psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression are associated with pot.  If you have heart disease, you’re more likely to have a heart attack in the hour after smoking.  Pot can be useful to treat nausea and chronic pain associated with cancer treatments.  Because there are some benefits, people still think it’s safe.  It’s not.
