Description

Patty Williams-Downs is a mother, a mentor, an entrepreneur, and the Executive Director of OneGoal, a college access and success organization for students from low-income communities. Patty joins Jenn to discuss her collegiate athlete journey at Fordham University and how much the game (basketball) has changed with to skillsets and leadership mentality, how achievement can be viewed with higher value than compassion, and what it means to be in community with others and uplifting yourself. Patty and Jenn talk about shame and guilt, how those feelings come up in their lives as women, as former educators, as high-achievers. Patty explains how she has learned to actively work on emotional and mental rest, how she navigates life with and without systems, and how she has to continuously remind herself that everything is okay, everything will be okay. Enjoy!
