In the latest episode I am joined by the star of Netflix Last Chance U documentary Dior Scott.
Last Chance University is a Netflix documentary which follows around a Junior College American Football Team for a season and offers a compelling look into College Sport, as well as the lives of student athletes, where life has been difficult for many of them. During the documentary, we see what it really means to the players and coaches to be successful, as well as the hardships these young athletes have to go through. For most of the athletes this is their last chance to make it out and gain a scholarship to a University College to play Football and gain a degree, which then puts them on the path to the NFL.
Many of the players we see showcased have been through a lot of hardship and adversity. My guest today Dior Walker-Scott, was one of those athletes. An amazing sporting talent, who has an unbelievable work ethic and drive. However, he was also battling severe hardships throughout the documentary. We see Dior study, work part-time, sleep in his car, struggle with his anxiety levels, experience family struggles and all doing so whilst trying to chase his dream of gaining a Division 1 College scholarship so he could make it to the NFL.
During this podcast, we discuss the following topics:
How life has changed for Dior since the documentary was released.
What it was like to be filmed on Last Chance U.
How he is enjoying his new life playing football in Hawaii.
Mental health in sport.
Sharing light on how he overcame the hardships he faced .
His mindset and drive.
Advice he has for others.
