Death and Resurrection: Circumcision
“Therefore, circumcise your hearts, and no longer harden your necks!” (Deut. 10:16)
The Old Covenant sign of circumcision doubly symbolized God’s promise to cleanse the hearts of His people as well as the curse of being “cut off” from Him in judgment due to covenant breaking, both of which are fulfilled in the death and resurrection of Christ and applied to us by the Holy Spirit through our union with Him. Jesus bears the curse circumcision symbolized at the Cross, in order that we might receive the blessing of the cleansed heart that circumcision symbolized!”
