On December 21, 2020, my lola/grandma, Antolina Maglalang, passed away at the age of 97 years old. She was born in the Philippines, survived World War II, gave birth to 13 children with my grandfather, Angel Maglalang, then moved to Edmonton and helped my mom raise me to be the man I am today. Our family had prayed the rosary and novena for her every day until her funeral. On December 29, 2020, after being able to see her at Hainstock's Funeral home in Edmonton, AB, our families were able to say our goodbyes in groups of 10 people (due to COVID-19 restrictions) and the funeral would commence the following day. Later that night, I was given the opportunity to share my prayer and reflections of our time together virtually with our family over Zoom. To anybody reading this, if you were able to meet her before she passed away, you were pretty lucky and would have been treated exceptionally well, or as I call it, "the golden standard". I wanted to share my prayer and reflections on the podcast particularly for my family but also for myself to look back on the fond memories I had of my grandma. Thank you for listening and taking part in a private moment to honour my late grandma. God bless.
