Episode #29 We have the privilege of interviewing Heidi Meyer. Heidi joined the Gustavus Nursing Program as faculty in February 2008. As a 1998 Gustavus nursing alum, Heidi is back at Gustavus doing what she hoped of doing as a student back in the mid to late 1990's. After graduating from Gustavus in 1998, Heidi worked in various clinical settings, including Oncology, Med/Surg, Home Health, and Public Health. She returned to Minnesota State University, Mankato to pursue her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After she completed her degree, she began teaching in an ADN program in the Twin Cities and taught there for two years before coming to Gustavus. Heidi teaches Fundamentals of Nursing and Principles of Clinical Pharmacology in the Junior level of the program and Transitions to Professional Practice in the Senior level of the program. She recently received her PhD from South Dakota State University. Her dissertation research was entitled Understanding Emotional Intelligence and Its Relationship to Clinical Reasoning in Nursing Students: A Mixed Methods Study.
