Fortitude, or courage , allows us to rise above temptation, fear, persecution, and other trails as we strive to emulate Christ's life and implement his words. This gift of the Holy Spirit gives the necessary graces to embrace the Cross and profess the Faith amid adversities and obstacles. Part of this fortitude includes the supernatural hope of a reward that far surpasses the joys and pleasures of this present life.
