The Appeal Unfiltered hosts, Brii Renee’ and Neima Abdulahi talk all things content creation and music industry related with Atlanta’s own Jerry Clark aka Mr. Legendary Jerry. Jerry Clark shares his passion for podcasting and why he feels storytelling is important.
“Those of African descent are always late to the party”, he says as he explains how he wants to help change representation amongst podcasters along with other fellow Atlanta creatives. Jerry believes content creation is key to claiming our space in the market.
Jerry Clark talks about his beginnings, studying under his uncle and mentor in the music industry, and how he grew to obtain his title “Legendary Jerry”. Jerry says he tries to warn his kids, like his uncle warned him about the downsides of the entertainment business. He expresses his concerns and worries of raising a family around the music industry.
Legendary Jerry takes us down his journey in the industry of promotion and marketing for some of the biggest artists in the game at multiple reputable record labels. He says the biggest thing the industry is missing right now is authentic R&B.
“Atlanta is the only city left with black leadership that has thrived”, is why Jerry believes Atlantas influence on the culture has been and continues to be so strong. He makes mention of T.I. and Killer Mike being leaders continuing to make an impact. However, Legendary Jerry believes Atlanta is still under-represented in journalism and storytelling and feels the window of opportunity for his hometown creatives is NOW!
