In Catholic teaching, anger is a natural passion (emotion) that arises in response to a perceived injustice or wrong, with a desire to correct, resist, or punish that wrong.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church treats anger under the passions and the Fifth Commandment:
"Anger is a desire for revenge." (CCC 2302)
But the Catechism immediately adds an important distinction,
Anger is not automatically sinful
Anger in itself is morally neutral. It becomes good or bad depending on how it is used.
