Welcome everyone to The Side Jawn, I am your host Dennis Holmes and I'm here with my co-host Sharon the Chocolate Girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl! Say it right Dennis!
Sharon says hello. Sends it back to Dennis.
Dennis:
Thank y'all for tuning in today. We're calling today's show We the Rational National (in reference to Public Enemy's "First the Sheep Next the Shepherd?") y'all will have to go check out that song. "First the Sheep Next the Shepherd?" by Public Enemy.
Dennis:
Let's get this out the way, Chocolate Girl did you see the Heat/Hawks game last night?????
Dennis:
Heat up 110-109, 4.4 seconds left, and Trey Young hit that floater making it 111-110 to close it out. Man the Heat took it hard man.
Sharon: Yeah so now the Heat still lead 2-1 in the series, but man, the Hawks weren't playin. They were not going out like that. Trey Young said give me the ball and get out the way!
Dennis: Yeah because Jimmy Butler missed a jumper with 12.6 seconds left which would have put them up by 3.
Dennis: say something about Jimmy Butler and what dudes in the Zoom been saying to you about this matchup.
Sharon: The Heat lost after being up by 16 late in the 4th. But the Hawks would not go away. Who you got in the series Dennis?
Dennis answers and moves on
Dennis: Today is April 23rd and I'm sure it's somebody's birthday ut there, so if it's your birthday, Happy Birthday. But we are gonna focus on the National Days today. You know how it's always some kind of national this day or that day. Well we found there's a whole lot of days today.
So here's the ones we aren't talking about: Read those Sharon.
Sharon reads: Talk Like Shakespeare Day, nah we aren't doing that. Cherry Cheesecake Day. I don't like cherries so if it was just cheesecake then yeah we could but the cherries messed it up. Another weird one Impossible Astronaut Day? I didn't even read to see what that is it sounds so strange. Lost Dog Awareness Day? Nah. Because see, until we as Americans start caring about our living children and the elderly more than we do dogs, then I'm not talking about lost dogs or any other kind. That's just me.
Dennis: we me and you Sharon love music and we love karaoke, and this week is National Karaoke Week. 4/17-23
Dennis talk about karaoke and why you love it, first time you did it, most fun, most embarrassing, etc. Ask Sharon what about her.
Sharon: same thing. Gives her shout out to DJ RnB the baddest DJ karaoke show ever. (Kingdem Karaoke) Found an article on how to celebrate karaoke: go to article.
Dennis: today is also National Book Day. We put a poll up on the Side Jawn group page (go join) asking if you would like to see a Side Jawn Book Club. Sharon thought hey people don't read enough, maybe we should start reading things together. So if we get enough interest maybe we will start one, but anyway.... Dennis talk about books, does he read or not, why, does he want to. Then ask Sharon.
Sharon: I am a reader. Always loved to read, my sister's fault, she used to read all day and I of course imitated her but grew to love it on my own.
Dennis: Now today is also supposed to be National Lover's Day, never heard of it. Heard of Sweetest Day and Valentine's Day, never this day have you Sharon?
Sharon: NOPE!
Dennis: It says it's just another day created to give gifts to your loved ones.
Sharon: Yead it says if came about because St George Day in Europe which celebrates love and literature because Shakespeare died on 4/23. That's why today is also National Book Day. So since we are celebrating something musical and love, Dennis when you hear the word love song, what's the first song that comes to your mind?
Dennis gives his and Sharon gives hers.
Sharon: viewers list your favorite love songs in the comments.
Sharon: Dennis did you know today is also National Record Store Day???? So today we are supposed to hit up a record store and go celebrate the industry. Mainly vinyl Thank you for Listening make sure you go like
