"You should write a book."

Publicist/radio tracker Anya Wilson has heard those words a million times over the course of her remarkable career. Though Anya has played a major role in building up Canada as a leading country music source, her work history is considerably deeper, including promoting David Bowie, Marc Bolan and Sir Paul McCartney in the UK. Anya moved to Canada in 1979, and became the National Promotion Manager for Cachet Records in Toronto, working records by Ernest Tubb, Johnny Cash, and Ronnie Prophet before opening Anya Wilson Promotion & Publicity in 1980. In 1987, Anya became further associated with the country genre when she was hired by Stony Plain Records to promote Ian Tyson’s "Cowboyography,” one of the greatest Canadian albums of all time. From 1985 to 1989, Anya wrote the “Home and Abroad” column for Country Music News in Ottawa, and was the country music editor for the weekly Canadian music trade, The Record. In the early ‘90s, Anya became a PR consultant to The Nashville Network, and was pivotal in building the American network’s relationship with the Canadian Country Music Association. Anya also worked extensively with the CCMA, developing and overseeing the media strategy for its first nationally televised show in 1986. She also developed the organization’s radio committee. In 2008,  Anya was instrumental in developing the first board of directors of the Country Music Association of Ontario, and served as vice president for five years.
