Following our 2021 conversation mix engineer David Yungin Kim returns to catch up on episode 152! In the last 2 years David has managed to win a Grammy as the engineer for Nas’ “King’s Disease” project, continue his work with legendary producer Hit-Boy and also start his first music event in Seoul called “Aimfest” all of which were big goals of his the first time we spoke. He talked with us about the event specifically the trials and planning difficulties that went into it and the lessons he learned that can be applied moving forward as he aims to make it an annual meeting. We discussed the importance of brand partnerships and how David has managed to work with companies like Avid Pro Tools to build relationships and open up potential income streams which is something music makers of all kinds can pursue. His recent works with Kali Uchis and Avelino are just more additions to his already rapidly growing catalog and we love to hear that David is continuing his ascent as one of the industry’s most prominent engineers!
