He composes a song of praise to God

Priest Ahimelech cautiously provided bread and sword to David
Saul demands his men display loyalty by slaughtering the priests
The opportunist Doeg obliges by slaying 85 priests and families
David sings of Doeg’s and Saul’s arrogance and his own faith
