The steps to gaining your ideal fitness and support your health are simpler than we think.  If you can 

  1. Eat the appropriate amount of calories to support either fat loss or muscle gain. 
  2. Resistance Train 2-3x/week to build lean muscle mass. 
  3. Include activities that you enjoy, so you will move consistently. 

Then that's a great start and will get you well on your way.  Steer clear of things that someone else told you would work and it could work for you to.  You may see short term success with that strategy but this doesn't mean you'll see long term success.
