I had the pleasure of speaking to Scott Laird who is the Orchestra Director at the North Carolina School of Science and Math.
In our conversation we talk about what led Mr. Laird to his career in music education, the beginning of his teaching career, and the transition to teaching at NCSSM and the unique situation of teaching there.
We get into the importance of building relationships with students and developing a culture in the orchestra, and as a teacher the benefits of being a member of professional organizations such as NCMEA and ASTA.
