My guest today is Matt Wilson, former orchestra director at Ridge Road Middle and Mallard Creek High School and Masters student at UNCG starting in the 20-21 school year.
Matt is a National Boards Certified teacher, Secretary for the NCMEA Western Region Orchestra, and Orchestra Teacher of the Year in 2017 for the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. He is also a member of both NCMEA and ASTA.
In today’s episode we talk about our similar paths to ending up teaching in the same district, his upcoming masters program, and the joy of being a violist in the orchestra world. We also have a discussion about diversity in the classroom and how it is our roles as teachers to be aware of social issues like today and how they can have an affect on the students in our classroom.
