அமிழ்து பொதி செந்நா அஞ்ச வந்த
வார்ந்து இலங்கு வை எயிற்றுச் சின்மொழி அரிவையைப்
பெறுக தில் அம்ம யானே, பெற்றாங்கு,
அறிக தில் அம்ம இவ்வூரே, மறுகில்
நல்லோள் கணவன் இவன் எனப் 5
பல்லோர் கூற யாஅம் நாணுகம் சிறிதே.
Translation :
May I attain her by climbing on
a madal horse,
the young woman with a reddish,
sweet, nectar-filled tongue that
fears her straight, bright teeth!
Once I attain her, many on the
streets of this town will say,
“He’s a good woman’s husband,”
and we will feel a little shy then.
