Being a capital-O Optimist means more than just having an optimistic outlook.
It means meeting with other like-minded optimists (of both lowercase & capital Os) on a regular basis.
It means paying dues, metaphorically & literally.
It means providing higher ed scholarships to communities & students in need; raising funds & connecting people to resources; identifying under-served populations & finding ways to meet their needs, whether through toy/coat drives, golf outings & lessons or essay contests.
It means “to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.”
And first & foremost, it means “to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.”
